Thinklogical Unveils New Line of Fiber Optic KVM Extenders for Enhanced Visualization and Desktop Performance
The EVS is an innovative breakthrough for KVM extension in high performance computing environments
Milford, CT –September 1, 2007 – Thinklogical, a leading provider of fiber optic kvm switching and extension technologies, today announced it is now shipping the next generation of fiber optic KVM extenders. The EVS (enhanced visualization solution) line of products harnesses fiber optic technology to extend DVI or RGB video (over a single multi-mode fiber) and a variety of desktop peripheral devices from one source to multiple destinations (up to 1000 meters or 3,280 feet).
Building upon the success of Thinklogical’s cornerstone VIS line of fiber optic extenders, Thinklogical made the decision to develop this revolutionary fiber optic KVM extender. The high performance visualization computing environments has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years and this has spurred the need for a versatile yet scalable solution. Thinklogical’s commitment to innovation in this marketplace is demonstrated with the design and development of the EVS, as well as its continued support for the successful VIS line of fiber optic extenders.

The EVS includes a transmitter and receiver which provide advanced features while supporting full peripheral compatibility. The base model series has an integrated 4-port USB 1.1 hub extender, which allows for plug compatible USB devices with virtually any computer source located within one kilometer of the user console. In addition, the EVS fully supports PS2, full duplex stereo audio, serial (RS-232) and a USB 1.0 (HID) 4-port hub (over just 2 dedicated fibers). Building upon the base model, the EVS product line also offers factory options such as an integrated 4-port USB 2.0 hub or a Firewire 800 connection for extending DVD drives and other high speed desktop devices. For security-conscious customers who do not permit full or high speed USB or Firewire 800 on the desktop, the EVS limits peripherals to HID signal rates.

Via a single, high speed, multimode fiber, the EVS delivers market-leading advanced visualization technology for uncompromised video integrity. DVI and analog RGB (VGA) video signals are extended with no frame-dropping or content loss and the result is top image quality.
Single-Link DVI (165 MHz) and RGB (225 MHz) video formats up to 1920 x 1200 are supported over this single multimode video fiber. In addition, Dual-Link DVI (formats up to 2560x1600), multiple Dual-Link DVI displays and combinations of Dual-Link and Single-Link DVI channels are supported in the EVS line of extenders.
