Technical Writer

Working closely with the Engineering, Development, Marketing, and Support Departments, you will take responsibility for all aspects of product documentation for Thinklogical products. You will write, edit, and produce a variety of technical, user documentation such as manuals, data sheets and/or brochures, as well as maintaining on-line (internet/web-based) documentation manuals. Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and/or product management during design phase to gain an understanding of the product. Analyze requirements of project to determine types of publications needed. Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation. Review and edit material for proper use of terminology, style, direction, content, grammar, punctuation and clarity; design and layout format. Research and evaluate new documentation tools and methods; document and improve documentation processes. Develop documentation project plans and timelines.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years experience writing technical documentation for a computer hardware/engineering company.
• Ability to understand and edit technical material.
• Ability to abstract information relevant to the user from engineering documents and discussions.
• Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies between actual product function and design specification.
• Ability to assimilate products, customer requirements, and documentation design and structure.
• Working knowledge of copy editing and proofreading.
• Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and changing priorities.
• Proficient in word processing.
• Previous experience with document layout (desktop publishing) software.
• Experience with Imaging Software (Corel Draw, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and/or Visio).
• Education: Bachelors in technical or communication field required. Master or equivalent experience is a plus
